Technical Marekting Engineer

The successful candidate will join Application Delivery Business Unit within Cisco's Datacenter & Security Technology Group (DSSTG). ADBU is chartered with driving advance technologies in application delivery to improve both packaged and custom applications performance, availability, and security. ADBU is looking for a candidate that wants to join an aggressive team with a start-up mentality to innovate and bring to market a new class of product based upon next generation application delivery technologies.

Manager III, Technical Marketing Engineer III
The successful candidate will lead a team of technical marketing engineers to create technical solutions and marketing of Cisco products and services. Will also lead our efforts in competitor products research and testing.
Responsibilities Include:
Manage a team of technical marketing engineers to:
Define and implement application delivery solutions and reference architectures
Develop technical white papers, design guides, and case studies on Cisco application delivery products
Independently identify and resolve complex issues with application delivery solutions

Describe and evangelize technical solutions; Deliver technical presentations to sales force, internal stakeholders, end customers, and channel partners

Gather, review, and influence product requirements for existing and future products; Interact with PMs to support the development of product requirement documents

Review and provide feedback on system functional specifications and test plans

Develop feature specific technical whitepapers or solution guides

Perform hands-on competitive analysis of application delivery solutions. Develop technical and marketing competitive collaterals

Support System Engineers and customers in architecting and deploying application delivery solutions and technologies

Act as the technical interface on customer sales calls, when required, and assist in preparing responses to RFP's, RFI's, and RFC's

Support System Engineers and customers on any product related questions and proof-of-concepts

Acquire in-depth knowledge of application delivery market trends, emerging datacenter technologies, competition, and user needs

Present Cisco application delivery products and solutions in external conferences, user groups events, and industry events.

Maintain leadership role within product team

May independently make decisions and review complex decisions with senior BU leadership

Requires travel to some extent



Skills:



Prior management experience, hiring, organizing, motivating, reviewing, and staffing a technical team

Solid experience and understanding of any Application Delivery Products (Cisco ACE, F5 BIG-IP, Citrix NetScaler, Radware)

Solid experience and understanding of layer 2 through layer 4 networking technologies, e.g. routing, switching, TCP/IP.

Strong knowledge and practical experience with HTTP and other networking protocols

A good understanding of Server Virtualization and enterprise applications

Outstanding communication skills. Demonstrated ability in developing and delivering complex technical presentations.

Strong technical writing skills. Demonstrated ability in delivering technical white papers.

Ability to solve complex technical problems.

Ability to work with limited supervision in defining initial goals and addressing complex issues as they arise.

Strong ability to build relationships among Cisco sales, marketing, and customers.

Able to clearly communicate complex technical issues

Ability to work cross-functionally across many internal teams

Ability to train and mentor.

Time and project management skills. Ability to multitask.

Ability to drive large initiatives and/or manage a number of smaller initiatives

Ability to deliver and develop technology demos

Strong customer facing skill sets



Typically requires BSCS or BSEE or equivalent plus 12+ years related experience, or MSCS/MSEE and 10+ years related experience. Projects are BU-specific and could also be involved with cross-BU projects. Typically reports to Director, Product Marketing. Accountable to direct manager, PM Directors, and Engineering Directors within BU responsibility as well as other relevant BUs.



Manager Specific Requirements : Must Have Requirements:



1. Deep technical knowledge of application delivery (L4-L7) - technologies, products, and competition



2. Solid understanding of server virtualization and major enterprise applications



3. Solid experience and understanding of layer 2 through layer 4 networking technologies, e.g. routing, switching, TCP/IP.



4. Outstanding and demonstrated communication skills



5. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with Cisco SEs, marketing, and customers.
