Product marketing Manager

The succesful candidate will direct and control the activities of a large functional area within the Product Marketing organization.
Establishes and manages the Product Marketing function for the Routing and Switching Security products. Critiques overall product plans and programs.
Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives and to insure those strategies are aligned across major parts of the organization. Makes recommendations that drive major revenue streams, major investments, or major strategic thrusts of the company. Establishes and modifies policies governing the Product Marketing team.

Typically requires BSEE/CS, Finance, Marketing or equivalent plus 12+ years relevant experience in marketing internetworking technologies and applications and a good understanding of the industry.
Technical background including broad and detailed understanding of networking and Cisco products and services. Extensive knowledge of and sustained expertise with relevant technologies like IPSec, DMVPN, GETVPN, Firewalls and Intrusion Detection and Prevention. Strategic understanding of, and broad experience in, leading teams in applying all elements of complete life-cycle marketing, including launch, transition, and end-of-life, through both direct sales and indirect channels, using advertising, direct marketing, promotions, and seminars.

Provides a strategic vision for his/her team. Provides management guidance to intermediate managers, peers, and all levels of exempt and non-exempt employees on accomplishing goals.

Only long-term strategic objectives are reviewed by immediate line management; trusted to effectively implement tactical details on his/her own. Superior people management skills. Ability to influence and persuade senior level management regarding complex and/or controversial situations. Strategic understanding of technical and market issues.
Effectively delegates work to others while meeting or exceeding all key objectives. Manages product lines or outbound marketing for a product line with annual revenues of $500 million or more.
Reports to Director of Marketing. Interacts with management at the Director and VP level. Represents Cisco and Cisco products to internal/external organizations, customers and press, etc.
Determines and drives short, mid-, and long-term strategic objectives. Exercises broad independent judgment.
Demonstrates ability to build and develop an organization. Ability to articulate an overall vision and strategy for a given product line and to drive the organization to achieve it.Exerts strong influence across the organization; recognized as the voice of authority on the his/her areas of responsibility.
