Project Manager-Localization

This position will provide program management leadership for hardware and software projects, including 3rd party interaction. Projects can range in size from bringing new platforms to market to smaller software or test only projects.

Duties and Responsibilities: Job responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
The Localization Project Manager directs the development and execution of localization project plans for multiple products and SKUs simultaneously by interacting with localization vendors, ODMs, JDMs, and numerous internal teams on a global basis.
• Prepare localization project plan which includes schedules, budget, risks analysis, contingent planning for software localization, on-line Help, documentation and packaging

• Define the localization direction, strategy, and goals, taking into consideration regulatory requirements, market trends, and competitive trends.

• Create and negotiate realistic deliverable timelines and communicate delivery schedules and milestones with engineering, localization vendor, ODMs and JDMs

• Act as a localization and internationalization subject matter expert

• Provide guidance and work with technical writers to improve content in order to streamline localization process

• Conduct basic GUI localization testing

• Support and manage outside JDMs, prepare technical instructions and processes on I18N, answer queries, solve vendor problems, and handle bug management

• Prepares and creates the content of the localization kit for each project to the localization vendor

• Open purchase requisitions, track purchase orders and approve invoices for outside localization vendors.

• Work closely with Cisco local and international Product Marketing Managers around the globe to coordinate schedules and provide guidance and resolution on localization issues

• Create status reports, slide decks, etc., and present at EC reviews and stakeholder meetings

• Track multiple project tasks to proactively anticipate problems, develop and implement contingency plans and mitigate risk
Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience with localization of networking technology products and localization program management

• BA/BS in technical field or equivalent work experience and project management emphasis required

• Solid knowledge of internationalization of software products and localization process

• Familiarity with Translation Memory and Localization Tools such as Alchemy Catalyst, TRADOS, SDLX, Passolo; Graphic tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator; Enterprise Content Management tool such as Web Publisher

• Understanding of UNICODE compliance requirement is required

• Basic knowledge of standard web technologies such as XML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; Understanding of DLL and RC resource file is preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and text-editors

• Excellent track record in delivering global products and understanding of internationalization and localization issues

• Culturally sensitive attitude and the ability of building strong relationships with different regions

• Ability to perform under pressure, prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously

• Experience with localizing software into foreign languages is required.

• Exceptional multi-tasking, collaboration, and project management skills.

• Strong leadership and effective problem-solving and resolution skills; ability to negotiate, communicate, and quickly resolve issues.

• Utilize various project/program productivity tools such as MS Project to track project progress, resource utilization, program budget, etc., to ensure that the project stays on schedule and within the committed budget, headcount and other resource constraints

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English required and knowledge of other languages preferred
