Technical Lead Engineer

The Policy Management Business Unit (PMBU) builds Products and Solutions to enable Identity and Policy based Secure Network Access.

Cisco Network Admission Control (NAC) product uses the network infrastructure to enforce security policy compliance on all users and devices seeking to access network computing resources. It provides role-based access control, endpoint security policy enforcement and remediation, controlled guest access, and support for non-PC devices on the network, restricting access of non-compliant devices. We are looking for an experienced senior Software Technical Leader to lead and participate in the design and development of Network Admission Control product.
The ideal candidate should have proven experience in participating/leading large Software Projects. We are looking for candidates who strive in a fast paced start-up like environment. You will be part of a world class high performance development team.

Though this position is for an Individual Contributor, with a right candidate possessing strong hands-on as well as leadership skills, it could evolve into an Engineering Management role.

Primary Responsibilities:


▪ Lead a team of engineers as well as contribute hands-on on the design and development of large scale security software product

▪ Work closely with cross-functional team towards product requirements, architecture and development

▪ Work closely and in partnership with the Test engineering to ensure high quality of the product.

▪ Work closely with the Product Marketing team to review and sign-off on product requirements.

▪ Write product specification and design documents from the product the product requirements.

▪ Innovate, show your creativity and define product road-map and strategy.

▪ As part of a team, lead and mentor other members of the team.



Required Skills/Experience:

▪ BS/MS in CS/EE or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience in internetworking technologies and applications.

▪ Proven track record of hands-on design, architecture and development of large scale software systems.

▪ Strong programming skills in Java. In addition, C/C++ experience is a strong plus.

▪ Good understanding of Networking Technologies ( SNMP, Ethernet, LAN/WAN, L2/L3 protocols, VPN etc.)

▪ Strong problem solving and software development/troubleshooting skills from a high system level to low level components, which include looking at and writing code.

▪ Experience with security technologies including SSL, encryption, certificates, and FIPS.



Highly Desirable Skills/Experience:

▪ Experience with one or more Identity and Access related technologies (Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, XACML)

▪ Hands-on understanding of or strong familiarity with networking devices (Switches, Routers, Firewalls)

▪ Experience in managing a highly motivated and driven team of software engineers
