We are seeking a software engineer or technical leader to develop software features in the L2-L3 and L4-L7 areas on one of our hardware accelerated routing platforms. You will define, design, build and sustain platform software components of new forwarding features along with designing and building platform software infrastructure for our next generation routers. You will work in number of different OS environments including developing on programmable network processing engines. You will be working on core IP features (IPv4,IPv6,routing, packet replication/LI/SPAN, L2TPv3) as well as emerging areas such as 3rd party application support and integration with technologies such as NBAR/DPI.
You must be a good communicator. You must have thorough knowledge of development of IP technologies. You must have understanding and view of complete system and drive resolution of complex issues across multiple teams and platforms. You must be able to take the product from concept development and customer requirements through deployment testing, ensuring that the customer intent has been achieved. Mentors junior engineers and develops them into experts in their functional areas. Helps engineers find ways to attack new or difficult problems. Develops or consults on internal training programs. Identifies issues and technical interdependencies and suggests possible changes. Candidate must have a good knowledge of platform code development including resources management, drivers, packet path handling and hardware to software handshakes.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Excellent design, programming and debugging skills (C/C++).
2. Understanding of High Availability concepts, kernel experience a definite plus.
3. Real-time systems development experience (e.g. IOS, VxWorks, and embedded system/applications).
4. Protocol-related development experience (e.g. Forwarding, ACL, QOS, IP, UDP, ATM, Frame, SNMP, PNNI, MPLS, etc.).
5. Well versed in UNIX development environment and software development life cycle.
6. Knowledge of operating systems architecture including semaphores, task switching, IPC, pre-emptive scheduling, and memory management.
7. Knowledge of HW/SW APIs, resource allocation (TCAM, etc.) and packet forwarding path
8. Troubleshooting issues and customer support experience.
9. Good communication/influence skill and ability to lead/mentor/coach other team members.
10. Experience of working on high-end router platforms is a plus.

- Strong communicator, collaborator and be a self starter with a strong desire to advance in the team.
- Embedded and real time s/w development
- Strong experience in C programming language
- Demonstrable experience in driving large feature or SW development project from requirements development through test and deployment
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot software issues
- Strong knowledge of IP related protocols
- Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 8-12 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 13+ yrs related experience
